Story

On 29 April I woke up in the early morning with chest pains. I went down stairs thinking I had indigestion, next second I drop dead on the kitchen floor from a widow maker heart attack and a SCA. My wife Tania stared CPR and called 999, she continues with CPR for 12 minutes until the first responders arrived, who then took over for another 18mins, with the use of a defibrillator they got my heart going again, they then strapped a LUCAS machine on me and rushed me to hospital, I was in a coma for a few days and spent two weeks in hospital.

If only an 8% survival rate for out of hospital cardiac arrest, I am only here today due to Tania knowing CPR and also the first responders had a LUCAS to keep my heart beating. Not every ambulance has a LUCAS machine on board, so it has to be driven around separately and priorities based on the situation.

We’re doing this challenge to raise awareness around the importance of learning CPR as you never know whose life you can save and also to raise money to go towards a LUCAS machine, to help save many more lives.
